UK-based Nigerian artist Darkoo has opened up on how some of her biggest collaborations came together, including a moment where Rema ignored her message until her song started gaining traction.

Speaking in a recent interview, Darkoo broke down how her collaboration with Rema happened. According to her, she sent him a direct message about two weeks after dropping her track, but he didn’t respond immediately.

She explained that Rema only got back to her about a month later, around the time the song started gaining attention. Once he replied, things moved quickly. They agreed on a remix, and within days, the work was completed, and they even followed up with a smooth video shoot.

Darkoo also said that his working experience was easy and positive; everything flowed well, with the right energy.

She said that on the Davido side, the collaboration was a surprise. She woke up one day to a message from him with a screenshot of her TikTok snippet. Davido had already recorded a verse and sent it over, making the process straightforward.

Her link-up with Olamide came differently. She said he reached out to her directly with interest in working together. At the time, she had no idea that Wizkid was also on the track.

According to Darkoo, she recorded her verse without hearing Wizkid’s part. It was only after the song came together that she realized how similar their tones and delivery sounded.

She explained that this wasn’t intentional but rather a case of natural creative alignment. In her words, it felt like pure synergy rather than copying any style.

As e be now, many Nigerians dey react to the Rema angle especially. Some say na normal industry behavior, while others feel timing plays a big role in who gets attention.
